Stud Services

Our stud males represent some of the best genetics in the world. We have invested heavily in securing fine bloodlines and bringing them to the UK where we offer opportunities for other breeders to join us in securing progeny with their traits. They offer predictability in their offspring and are critical to our breeding programme which aims to produce show-winning, healthy animals with fine, dense fleeces in white and solid colours.

We offer an experienced and professional approach for the service of alpacas with a wide range of specialist skills and the support of our local veterinarian. Our own ultrasound equipment ensures we can accurately monitor developing pregnancies and offer complete assurance to our customers that the returning alpaca is indeed pregnant.

This year we have reduced our prices and restructured our service fees to offer more cost effective ways of securing a service depending on your own particular requirements and facilities. Collection, delivery and travel have also been costed separately. For long distance movements we are sometimes able to combine several jobs to ease the mileage charges. We carry full indemnity insurance for all alpacas whilst they are travelling in our trailers.

Stud Services 2007

For this year, stud services using our herd sires can be purchased in three ways. On farm, drive by, and mobile.

• On farm matings are available for all female alpacas. Residency is usually for around 60 days following which we are able see a firm pregnancy using our own ultrasound testing equipment. Service fee includes all keep and ultrasound testing
• Drive by matings are available for those owners who wish to bring their open females to our farm, observe the mating being done and then return home with the served female. Spit-offs and pregnancy determination are the responsibility of the alpaca owner.
• Mobile matings are available for those owners who wish to have their females served on their own farm. Here we will bring the selected stud male on to your farm, complete the service and then leave with the male. Spit-offs and pregnancy determination are the responsibility of the owner or we can return on a regular basis with the male.
