This is the adorable Dorabella, a lovely little spotty female. I couldn’t wait to see her shorn as we had no idea just how spotty she was, very difficult to tell in full fleece. This picture was taken immediately after shearing. She is very spotty with brown splodges all over her as if someone with a hopeless aim had chucked a pot of brown paint at her. She does have a lovely fleece and is a daughter of Jaquinto, you can tell by that aristocratic head.

We have finished shearing now, the last ten were done on Tuesday as we ran out of time on Saturday. It was good as we had a lot of help from a trio of very hard workers from the Isle of Wight who were good fun and got the full alpaca shearing instruction lecture from Chas and some hands on too. There are seven crias on the ground, five girls and two boys, what a terrific ratio but we all know that will not last and a run of boys is coming any time soon. Two of these were born today in the WRONG field as they are a bit early and all the ones in the birth field are very late, alpacas can be quite annoying.
