Thank you all for your very kind comments about Alice. I have stopped bawling every ten minutes now you will be pleased to know but we both keep looking for her…no more joyous welcomes when we get home. Dogs are so marvellously cheerful and as my sister Elaine said, they never criticise you either.
The good news is that eight out of the twelve eggs in the incubator have hatched which is the best success rate we have had so far. Clearly the cock bird was doing his stuff. These are Elaine’s chicks and are now in the barn under a lamp in the broody thing. Eggs hatching does cut the work rate in this office somewhat as it is fascinating watching them sawing their way out and slowly fluffing up as they dry.
I went to Exeter ysterday to get the grey removed from my head, it was, thank goodness. The hairdressers had loads of people in it going platinum blonde and one girl who was reversing the process which entails going red first and then back to brown. You have to be very, very careful said Luke or you end up with green hair – gosh.
Exeter was heaving as it is half term. I attempted to go clothes shopping but was riven with indecision and then got hopelessly bored and gave up. The shops are full of acid green, yuck, and strange purples and squillions of boat neck sweaters. I hate those as inevitably a bra strap appears. It may be trendy if you are 18 and gorgeous but not so good if you are ancient.
