The little alpaca cria – 5.8 kilos – spent the night in the barn as it was chucking it down but is now out in the field in a very fetching brand new red cria coat. Our older ones, in a vivid acid yellow, are getting very depressed and need replacing. I have mended some of them and given them a new fleece lining. Chas was very shocked that I could do this on my ancient sewing machine – a 1908 Pfaff – that belonged to my grandmother. It works very well and is not shockingly complicated as I fear the modern electrical ones are. I am totally incompetent at all things technical. Its a good thing I live with Chas because he is a whizz at such things.

  1. I love that old sewing machine! The mechanism moves up and down in such a dignified non-electrical fashion.
