We have been exchanging emails and phone calls with Mike Banks, the New Zealand shearer, who is co-ordinating operations over here from home. It all worked and this morning at eight Sam and Billy turned up for a spot of light cria shearing. All the older cria were sheared when Mike was here at the back end of June. Today they did 21 of them in a little under three hours including two that Tania Davis brought up from her place near Buckfastleigh. The dark fawn boy by Tulaco Centurion  was very impressive, very nice structure and stunning brightness. As he walked away after being shorn his coat shone. I think he may thrash us in the show ring next year.

Elaine Smallridge rang to say their black girl who was covered by our white Jaquinto has produced a beautiful coffee coloured cria. It is early days but they think the cria looks very promising. I can’t wait to see what our black girl produces – could be very interesting.
