Today the rest of the coarse fibre fron last year’s grading went up to the Wool Board depot in South Molton for squishing into big bales. We are planning to send one and a half tons of it up north for scouring and top making shortly as the keenly priced stripey socks hat John Arbon Textiles have been making out of it have sold really well as has our sock yarn in hanks which is being spun locally at Coldharbour Mill.
Tomorrow we start grading and the barn where we do it has been cleaned out, a new electronic set of scales installed and even more lights put up. Chas has ordered a skip for all the nasty bits.
We are starting with the fine white as we need at least one and a half tons of that to satisfy our customers. I have bought lots of masks for John and I as otherwise we would choke to death on the dust. We will be filthy by the end of the day and need a long time in the power shower to return to normality.
