We had rather a torrid time yesterday evening trying to sort out fleeces for the Heart of England Fleece Show. I hate the hideous business of skirting fleeces as you are never sure quite how much to remove and picking out hay etc. from that bit at the base of the neck in the junior fleeces can be very dull. Of course when you are grading fleeces it is totally different becuse you can pull the fleeces apart to get at the best bits and it doesn’t matter at all. Anyway we found some fleeces in the end and it will be interesting to see how they score. We finally got to the house at nine oclock, too tired to cook, so it was bacon sandwiches followed by fresh figs all round.
