The British Alpaca Futurity show entries are rapidly approaching 350 at which point we run out of space and the judge runs out of energy and starts wishing someone would beam her up. Chas is very grumpy as he works on his penning layout and will probably get grumpier as the closing date nears. There might have to be a waiting list, it depends how many animals drop out, a few always do.

I have been a bit bored and have taken to listening to Pavarotti’s greatest hits. It is a CD I bought when Colin and I were going off to film a conducting school in Dorset for Granada. They all stood on the lawns of this posh school waving their white sticks about. As we flew down the motorway in a big, powerful motor, with the roof open and good old Pav belting it out, we turned to each other and marvelled that this counted as work. Honestly if someone offered me a programme to produce, you wouldn’t see me for dust or alternatively Devon mud. Post Pav we have moved on to the divine Lucia Popp and Mozart, quite a different kettle of, but very lovely.
