It is the most glorious day, classic alpaca weather, sunny and cold. The sky was a very pale pink this morning, the only clouds being the streaks left by aeroplanes on their way to who knows where. Last night the moon was absolutely enormous. I watched it rise up over the hills at Withleigh whilst having my first glass of wine and contemplating what on earth I was going to cook for dinner – Spanish omelette – first line of defence when faced with a fairly empty fridge but loads of eggs.

This morning we came into the office to find the first chick hatched in the incubator – it is one of our eggs rather than one of the 18 I bought on Ebay. I am hoping that some of the Ebay eggs will hatch as they are interesting varieties and blue egg layers.

Chas has been snuffling and snorting all week with a cold. Luckily it is not one of the nasty ones where he lies on the sofa for two days refusing to speak swigging cough mixture. This is the mild variety so he is on the road today taking the stud males to Wales. I am hoping my magazine Alpaca World will land on the doorsteps today. We are using a new printer so I want to see what the quality is like. They have been a bit slow – it is almost two weeks since the files went up and they said it would be out within a week – not very happy with that.
