Alpacas are very cautious creatures. We have pushed them in to their new field three times now but they are still not convinced it is home. Unfortunately we have to leave the gate open to their old field at the moment as we have not sorted out a water trough yet. So quite a lot of the time they stay in the old field where there is no grass whilst there is a veritable feast next door.

Luckily our neighbours have a big spring fed water tank that has a pump in it where they get water for their horses and they say we can use that. We need to do a bit of plumbing to T off it and run it to a trough with a valve that we have to remove from a field we have sold. Sounds like a Monday job for Andrew. The fox has been at their place too, they have lost six hens out of seven. The remaining hen is very tame and allows you to pick it up and stroke it.

Our lane is even more flowery now with lots of primroses and now the dog violets are out and the very delicate white sorrel. I am looking forward to the bluebells and the early purple orchids next.
