We should be at the Okehampton Show today but just after lunch yesterday we got a call from the organisers to say it was cancelled for the second year running. I am not that surprised, the weather yesterday was truly horrendous. We kept the three newborns and the heavy pregnants plus the whole of the nursery field (58 animals) in the barn all day as it was so dreadful and we didn’t want any hypothermic cria out there. We are lucky our barn is so big that all can be accomodated. We went through the breedings on two other fields during the day so the stud males and those girls had a couple of hours in the dry as well eating gorgeous new hay.

I had booked a room at the Lydford House Hotel for the Okehampton Show so as soon as I knew the show was cancelled I phoned them. To my amazement they said they were going to charge us and didn’t give a toss that this really was not our fault. Boycott this hotel. A treble whammy you see, no introducing people to alpacas at the show, no sales of yarn and socks AND we have to pay for a hotel. Ho hum.

  1. My friend Ashlie bought some wool from your website a couple of days ago. So there’s a bit of yarn business. And she’s in a knitting club so hopefully when they see the quality they’ll all buy some. x
