The older cria got their second bluetongue jab today and the little ones their first – another bottle of fifty empty. Chas finally managed to get a dosing gun without a long tube but one where the bottle sits on the gun. The others are always breaking and you waste a lot of the drugs. It is blowing a gale here but dry. I am hoping the gale will have gone by Friday when we spend the night on the ferry Plymouth to Roscoff and then back again on Saturday. Neither of us are very keen on the big wave number as we are not natural sailors but prefer both feet firmly on the ground.

My bags of bulbs have been sitting on top of the freezer looking at me accusingly. However yesterday I eventually found my spade in the ruin I call my vegtable garden and set off looking for suitable sites. Crocus, daffodil, narcissus, tulip and allium are all safely in the ground. I also had a go at the hedge that is shading my camelias. All very neat and tidy now although there is still a big ash that is going to have to come out. It is a bit too large for my pruning saw so I’ll have to wait for Chas to get a chain saw moment.
