The vet came this morning to read the TB tests – all were clear thank goodness. One always worries a bit but we have done plenty of exports and they have always been OK. Geoff, the vet who started the tests on Monday, is in hospital apparently after being kicked by a horse. It hurt like hell at the time, well it would, but it might have bruised his kidneys as well which is rather more serious.

John came in his place and was in a bit of a panic as he had to get to Holsworthy – one of those places that is not far as the crow flies but dreadfully slow to get to – to deliver a lecture on AI to a group of farmers. We forced him to do all the bloods on the Embryo Transfer cria particularly as I was out there in the horrible freezing rain at seven oclock this morning getting all the relevant fields of animals up into the barn. We have to register the cria next which means thinking up a whole load of names and trying to decide whether one of the males can be Agamemnon. He’s got to be good enough to show so that I see if our favourite commentator John Gaye trips up on all those m’s.

I envy Joshua his snowballing last night in central London. It brings back memories of our time in New York when there were several feet of snow and people were skiing through Times Square and the whole city was deathly quiet.
