We are now enveloped in driving drizzle. The hill at Withleigh has disappeared and we are all feeling fed up, unmotivated and generally low. We could almost light the woodburner it is so damp and horrid.

I’m wondering how Tom and Alex (eldest and middle sons) are getting on at the Green Man Festival in Abergavenny. Alex phoned yesterday and said the weather was lovely and the people in the town very friendly. They met John Arbon,UK Alpaca director, and all round textile nerd (only joking) over breakfast there. I asked how they recognised each other but Alex said Tom was looking very obvious as he has purple hair. There was a problem with a broken tent pole and they feared they would have to share other peoples’ tents but ‘make do and mend’ came to the rescue.

Chas has been out on mobile matings and we a bit of alpaca work to do here but we are hiding in the office in the hope that the weather might improve. I don’t think so.

  1. Vile weather, am thinking I might need my light box on soon, but just think of the campers and caravaner’s down here on holiday, they’ve hardly left their vans all week, what joy..roll on Summer!!

  2. Well, Saturday was seriously wet and the Green Man Festival turned into a mudbath! The heavens opened and it just poured. We huddled in our tents all day Saturday playing role playing games and cards, which was actually really good fun. By Sunday it was only mildly drizzly, so we were back out again for lots of great bands.

I guess because it’s a very small, friendly festival it’s easier to cope with the mud as there isn’t so far to wade through it to get anywhere. Good thing I borrowed Charles’ wellies though: they were indispensable!

You should come to the Green Man next year Rachel. It’s good fun, very family friendly, and there’s camper vans you can stay in if you want more advanced facilities than tents! Really lovely Welsh hills setting too, quite magical when it’s not raining!
