Mill lane has been like a bad day on the M25. The main road to Witheridge is closed for two days because they are cutting down some trees and the closure is at the bottom of our lane. This morning I found myself behind two cars with a massive lorry behind me facing four white vans backing, very slowly, down our very narrow lane. It has been like that all day so all the diversions are sending lorries etc. down a one track road. Are they insane? Bits of the Devon banks are coming away and there are only a couple of fairly small passing places. I was so irritated I phoned up the Highways man at Devon County Council and told him I was seriously pissed off. Oh dear, he said, no-one has ever said that to me before, but he did know Mill Lane as he had walked up it recently and promised to do something. Hopefully before an artic gets irretrievably stuck and we are all marooned.
