First Cria of 2012

    This is the first cria of 2012, it’s a girl, brown, pretty early as she was born on February 23 and the 11 month date was March 6 and of course the 11 and a half month date March 20. Still she’s pretty lively, suckling and a mighty 6.6 kilos! You can see she is premature by the floppy ears. Her dam Athena is a very good mother but a touch on the over protective side so doing anything to the cria – taking her coat off after the first two days for example – is greeted with screams of protest and that much dreaded warning noise in the throat as you can hear her working up to spit. Actually she didn’t but then we worked at breakneck speed, we should take up Formula One tyre changing.

Stunning day here yesterday, bright blue sky and very warm, I had to ditch a layer. The flowers have responded with primroses and celandines out and the wild daffodils almost there. More please.
