We spent the whole of yesterday religiously following our Sat Nav lady around the South West. First a visit to a client to trim toenails, worm and vaccinate their gelding boys and then off to Woodcutts to collect the Australian black stud male Discovery – we own one of his legs. Nice trip that along the coast to Dorchester with quite a few caravans on rthe road already. Neglected to bring machine gun. Then to Marshwood Vale Alpacas to collect two blacks and a fawn we have bought and then to Westways Alpacas to collect two serious girls, ie pretty expensive. It was good fun, lots of people to chatter to and unfortunately lots of time in the car to remember all the things one should have done but haven’t got round to yet.
This morning Discovery got a couple of bonks as did Centurion, our fawn male. The others were out of luck, they stood around at the gate looking depressed.
One of our hens is sitting on a clutch of eggs so I think we are ging to get some Easter chicks that hopefully our four farm cats will not go for. The cats are first class rat catchers and do have a taste for baby rabbits as well but seem to ignore birds.
We have a vet student arriving next week for five days so we are planning an enormous round of worming and vaccination for her. It is that time of year so she is going to be an ace stabber of alpacas in no time.
