It is a beautiful day and Devon County Show starts tomorrow but Chas assures me the weather will change and rain on our alpacas in the show ring. Such a shame if it does, another wet hair day. Chas and Andrew are taking the opportunity to shear a few alpacas – the new mums – as it is probably time we remated them. We are starting later this year as the weather has been a bit grim for newborns although ours have coped fine so far. They are all a good size with the latest cria over 10 kilos and one of the first cria, now two months old, weighing in at 25 kilos. A good doer as they say.

I have been out shopping buying haylage for the animals at the show and M&S ready meals for us as cooking when you get home after a full day stood up yattering is a bridge too far. All I will have to do is whip up a salad and get out the corkscrew, I’m good at that.
