I went to a DAFNE refresher morning today in Exeter where our nurse tries to sort out any problems we have with our blood sugar. Everyone has problems most of the time but we keep trying. I asked about face lifts as my wrinkles are appalling and depressing but got a severe telling off as the nurses do not approve of unnecessary surgery for diabetics as we take longer to heal. Oh well I am doomed to go on looking like a witch. No comment on the prospect of Botox. It was a very jolly group and after an hour we went into a full diabetic chat session, almost certainly sleep inducing for the healthy but gripping stuff for us.
It was a great excuse, as I was in Exeter, to indulge in a TK Max session, I love that shop, where I managed to buy a new winter jacket for outside work. It is a skiing jacket and extremely loud. I did consider the more discreet version but was overcome by an oh sod it moment. I staggered out with said jacket, skiing trousers as I am fed up with being cold, a huge box of crackers, posh wrapping paper with matching ribbon etc. Could this be the year I wrap up presents nearly as beautifully as my sister in law. I fear not.
Next stop a lighting shop on the Marsh Barton estate to stare at floor lights for middle son Alex. Of course the absolutely stunning Italian ones were £700 each, a little out of my league! I was very taken by this fabulous bright red chair. The seat was beautifully curved AND confortable and it stood on clear, persepex I suppose, legs. It was gorgeous.
