I saw the first swallow whizzing by this morning. I felt even more spring like as Chas gave me an amazing pink flowery handbag for Easter. It is crazy and marvellous.

Joshua is sitting on the terrace having hid breakfast with NO SHIRT ON. It is warm but I wouldn’t go that far. Perhaps he is going to turn into a postman as they undress at the first opportunity and wear shorts when everyone else is in six layers.

William’s chicks have been moved to a new spacious house as there are so many of them and they are growing fast. They still have heat as it is quite cold at night. One of my aracauna hens has laid its first blue egg. These are the product of the eggs I bought on Ebay – four hens and a very fine cockbird who has a fantastic palomino coloured ruff over his blue grey feathers.

We have assembled our three young stud males so that they can do some more breedings today. There are some spit offs as well so we’ll see if they are firing yet. Let’s hope so.

  1. I feel the first swallow is a magical moment. Their agility and beauty is really something to look forward to every spring.

    Good luck with the breedings!

  2. I have a theory about Postmen permanently in shorts..(a) they have an ‘in house’ challenge to see who is the daftest/bravest..(b) they are all bonkers with legs like tree trunks!our postman never wears shorts as he says there are too many crazy dogs ready to bite him.
