I took Joshua down to the Cornwall Flying Club at Bodmin Airport for an hour’s trial flying lesson today – a belated 18th birthday present. For once the sun shone on Bodmin Moor and the sky was perfectly clear. There were three instructors hanging out in the bar when we arrived – not drinking of course – and everyone was very friendly. They filled up this little green Cessna with fuel and off they went, over the Eden project, over to the north coast and so on. Joshua really enjoyed it although he was slightly perturbed when landing as they appeared to be so close to the trees! I sat around with a glass of white wine reading the papers watching them baling hay on the outskirts of the airfield.

The alpaca with the prolapse gave birth today. Luckily Chas was on hand, saw her straining, cut the stitch pronto and out came a healthy boy. The two of them are sitting in the field togather looking very contented.
