I have been spending lots of money today on my favourite things – cheese, meat, wine, big fat Sicilian olives and so on. I went over to William’s New Cross Fruit Farm to collect cherries, redcurrants, blackberries, plums, eating gooseberries and apple juice. Then on to Burrow Hump and the Temperleys for cider closely followed by Brown and Forrest for smoked fish. This afternon I went to a farm shop on the way to Rose Ash. This is a very serious place with glorious meat and salamis and cheeses. I bought a Somerset brie made out of milk from Guernseys. It is a fabulous brie full of flavour and wonderfully yellow. Tom, Joshua and I stood around for ages talking and tasting.

Two female cria were born today, a brown and a dark fawn. The fawn took a bit of getting out, a big cria and pretty stuck, but Chas managed OK and both are suckling well.
