We had the first big meeting about the 2007 British Alpaca Futurity yesterday at Clouds Park in Wiltshire. It was a beautiful day and we were looking out at lovely parkland and loads of spring blossom. The event is over two days at Newbury Racecourse on November 3 & 4 British Alpaca Futurity and it is a big do so we are starting to book stuff, establish time lines for all the print material etc. It is a lot of work but certainly worth the effort as it was very successful last year with breeders coming from all over the UK and Europe.
The primroses and wild daffodils are all out so we tottered down the lane to take pictures of the alpacas grazing amongst them. The bird song was positively deafening.
I am still waiting for my four heavy pregnants in the birthing paddock to pop. Typically they are probably going to ignore this ideal birthing weather and wait until it is chucking it down again. We have a bit of a gap after this group but in May there should be a little flood of babies with the first Jaquinto cria tipping up which hopefully will prove extra interesting. Tomorrow we are flying round the country, well not exactly, we’ll have a trailer on the back, picking up animals. I have worked it all out on the Sat Nav so the timings should work…however the best laid plans etc etc.
