Hurrah, we gave LMFI Peruvian Ntherough of CME his first outing at the Honiton Show     yesterday and he got the ticket. Here I am clutching the Show Champion Huacaya cup with the judge Liz Barlow. There were around 90 animals at the show, everyone turned up, it was a jolly occasion and it didn’t rain. Our other alpacas did well too with three more champions and two reserve champions. This year there was a marquee for the animals but the pens were pretty small so some of the alpacas moved outside. There was lots of interest in the animals from the public too and I ran out of Alpaca World magazines for them by the end.

Back at home the girl with the vaginal prolapse had a fawn female cria this morning. I thought she was going to birth sometime today and when I was in the house saw her starting to push. Chas and Andrew rushed out to catch her and cut the string but the head was already out and there was no tear. It is a big, strong cria and was soon up and about.

Loads of peacock butterflies have suddenly appeared in the garden. They are so beautiful. I watched a wren bobbing about in front of the back door as I sat on the step and drank my tea this morning and then a blackbird joined in. I had forgotten how yellow their beaks are.
