Serious weather here today with a howling gale, horizontal snow and sleet and a dramatic drop in temperature. Pile on the woollies, it’s cold outside. The wind has been ripping into the daffodils and the poor alpacas have reverted to that winter look – wet and muddy. It must be something to do with that March ‘out like a lion’ thing.

I met a rat yesterday. I must introduce him to the cat. It shot out of the hen house when I was collecting the eggs. There are two holes in the wood at the bottom of one wall so I’ll have to nail a plank up against those and break out the rat poison. The rat is doomed.
