I am supposed to take lots of pills as the NHS is desperate to keep us Type 1 diabetics out of their hospital beds. Apparently we are struck down by heart disease and strokes so the emphasis is there. My doctor prescribed ACE Inhibitors to lower blood pressure months and months ago. The guilt – they have been sitting a bowl unswallowed.  Unfortunately I read the patient leaflet – this was an error because it says these darling little yellow and white capsules could do the very thing they are supposed to prevent. Finally this Sunday I bit the bullet, ha ha, and swallowed one. What a good girl, my blood pressure has now sunk to hypotension levels, sometimes below 100, am I still alive ? I asked Chas last night as the blood pressure meter delivered its verdict. So it is statins in the evening, my cholesterol levels are a joy for my consultant and way below what you normals are expected to have, then the ACE inhibitor and aspirin in the morning. The ACE thingy is also supposed to have a preventative effect on the kidneys and eyes so that I won’t end up blind on a dialysis machine. Do me a favour, if that looks likely, shoot me.
