My marmalade mission was successful and there are 12 jars of the orange stuff waiting to be labelled. While I was at it I decided to make some orange curd. It took an age to thicken so I had to read the newspaper whilst stirring continuously. Eventually it capitulated and the resulting curd is scrumptious. There are still some oranges left so tonight I am going to make orange and coriander marmalade, could be interesting.
We did a bit of alpaca work today as our stockman is away in Bratislava with the British fencing club being a referee. This is very good for Andrew as they get him there and it is only a spit from where his family live so he’s having a week off. That leaves us to slide around on good old Devon clay watching new and exciting streams appear all over our fields. The little weanling boys came in today but they all seem well and one that we picked out as being slightly under on his body score has actually put on a bit of a weight. We gave him a blast of wormer as new weanlings are bound to be under a bit of stress and he’s not diving into the hard feed like the others.
