OK I take it all back. The consultant at the hospital was very helpful and came up with a new regimen for my insulin injections that just might work in keeping my blood sugar at an acceptable level. It should be between 5 and 7 and it is at 8.6. I was fine for my first year as a diabetic probably because my pancreas was still producing a little insulin. Now it has completely conked out life has become more difficult. Have to try the new way for four months, get my bloods tested again and if it hasn’t worked, back to the hospital. The good news was that I am awash with ‘good’ cholesterol and that my liver and kidneys are still functioning correctly – terrific.
Chas has been struck down by some frightful lurgy and has been confined, coughing and spluttering, to the spare room. He has been drinking copious amounts of benylin original which he swears by. God knows why, it tastes absolutely foul. As an endangered species I am doing quite well as I have not caught any of his colds over the last two years.
I am working hard on the next Alpaca World magazine at the moment Alpaca World as we are in the middle of the layout. It will be published in the middle of April. We have some lovely pictures of Mary Jo Smith’s (Bozedown Alpacas) new baby Amelia – aaaaah we all said when they came through the ether. Not many human babies around in alpaca land as most of us are reproductively challenged being over 50. But I hear of two more due this summer so we can look forward to a summer of baby sitting at the shows and sudden wails at crucial moments during the judging.
