Yesterday one of the most mild mannered, steady and rather slow alpacas decided to kill the dog. This girl and her owner will not be named but they know who they are! We were out in the field admiring this female’s new cria when she went bananas and attacked the dog in a big way. We were wrestling the alpaca who really meant it, I managed to fall over and get a bash on the cheek and eventually the dog was rescued. It was amazing, what a good mother. I bled a bit but it wasn’t very dramatic and I have a slightly swollen cheek and three little marks.

We now have seven cria on the ground. On Saturday the only blue eyed white on the farm gave birth to another wonderfully spotty cria. The last two were boys but this is a girl. She has four brown ankle socks, brown on her face and brown streaks on her saddle, brown eyes and is gorgeous. We have tried several different black males over this girl but clearly her colour is in charge because they are always brown and white. Happily none of them have blue eyes. In fact the adult is not a deaf blue eye, she can hear perfectly.

  1. So.. the dog is OK right?

  2. I understand the dog is not in OK but is ok. To small. Maybe the alpaca thought the dog was a badger (and you well instructed the alpacas to get rid of them), ha, ha….
    Well luckely nothing awfull happened.
