I sprang out of bed this morning and came to an abrupt halt as I realised my back was shot. Walked extremely gingerly into the bath room and after an hour on the floor made it to the office with a supply of very large pink pills and an aerosol of that stuff that smells like horse liniment. Still hurts like hell but I have managed to buy a fridge on E Bay for a very good price for the new house. I was outbid on the first one but secured the second more cheaply.

Yesterday we went to an auction in a huge disused aircraft hanger at Dunkeswell where a load of light oak furniture was being sold. It went zooming up – way out of my price range…but I did buy a very nice old chest that needs a bit of TLC and is very charming. There were more nearly new desks and chairs there than I have ever seen gathered in one place, all going very cheaply. I was severely outbid on a set of six Exeter chairs by a solicitor furnishing his office which lead us in to a major anti-solicitor harrumpf, charge too much etc. etc.

Then off to look at a scabby alpaca that was much improved and most certainly on the mend. The owner Richard Harris gave us some more of his honey – it is lovely – so we had yoghurt and honey for pudding. Glorious day here, alpacas all fluffed up and looking beautiful. We have moved our weigh scales to a new position, finally finished today so we could weigh the new cria who was 8.2 kilos. A little small but she is very lively and her mother has loads of milk so she should grow on well.
