It really is very warm today, layers are being hurled to the floor, alpaca socks flying out of the window. So we will have a sunny Devon County Show for the second year in a row or at least not chucking it down. This year the alpacas have been moved to the top end of the show ground miles from the smoke of the traction engines and the rather scratchy goat breeders.

I suppose the disadvantage will be that we will be some way away from the bar and the loos in the main building but it will be very good to have lots of room as in the past we have been crammed into a marquee and there have been traffic jams with the alpacas trying to get to the show ring and families with prams coming the other way.

We are sort of ready and are taking all the animals down there tonight as it is coloured huacayas on Friday and then the whites on Saturday. It will be two trailers but we’ll be able to take the failures (no rosette, sob, sob) home on Friday evening which should mean just one trailer on the way home on Saturday. I shall be taking my normal supply of jelly babies and coke for hypos and lots of egg rolls so I don’t have to contemplate the horrible fast food on the show ground. Chas says I am a fusspot but at my great age why shouldn’t I be?
