One of our girls has a vaginal prolapse that keeps coming out and then disappearing again. But yesterday it started to bleed so the vet was called. Of course by the time he arrived the prolapse had gone back in, typical. Now she has been tied up so we have to keep an eagle eye on her because when she does start to give birth we’ll have to sprint out and cut the tie. Historically she has always given birth in the evening and on two occasions in the middle of our summer barn party.

I keep a good look out for wierd coloured poo from the cria and there was one with sloppy yellow stuff yesterday. Doing nothing is not an option as dead cria are not an option either so the cria gets weighed and dosed up with Veccoxan and an antibiotic, seems to work.

The mushrooms are still coming out there and I picked the first purple French beans from the garden. It is disappointing that they turn green when you cook them as the purple is such a good colour.

We are running our Fibre Workshop on August 8. If anyone needs to know more about breeding for better fibre, interpreting histograms, fibre characteristics, skirting etc we still have places!
