We are going to our first ever quiz night tonight with Paul and Theresa Cullen as THE ALPACA TEAM at a do organised by the Mid Devon Agricultural Show Society. Chas organises the alpaca show classes there and this is a fund raising evening and each livestock group has a team. Pigs, sheep, poultry, rabbits, horses, it promises to be a hoot. Supper is provided but we have to bring our own booze – not a problem as we brought loads back from France the other day. We are slightly worried that we night not be able to answer any of the question as we are hopeless on popular culture particularly soap operas. I’m pretty good on books and music but sport is an absolute no no unless I have absorbed any facts without noticing from the newspapers I read every day.
Tomorrow we have to get ready for our Discover Alpacas day on Sunday, a fairly laid back affair, where the assembled alpaca novices walk the farm, handle the animals, trim toe nails etc and have a good lunch. We have got the work experience boy Rick, who goes home to Holland tomorrow, sweeping the barn so he is going to be covered in dust before he finishes. I am making a fish pie for the non vegetarians and contemplating a Spanish tortilla for the vegetarians plus Somerset apple cake for pud.
