Our cats are on the rabbit trail again and tragic little baby rabbits keep arriving in the office. They are dead of course. Yesterday the tri-coloured mother cat came in with one and refused to let us evict her but hid growling and proceeded to eat half of it leaving the second half for her ginger son. The buzzards must know these babies are venturing out of their burrows because they are wheeling and calling up in the sky. Our lane has turned into a flowery one at last, primroses and wild daffodils everywhere.

I have started digging my small vegetable patch so that I can chuck on a whole load of well rotted alpaca poo. We have a giant heap of it which has been moved, by digger, from the yard on to the grass at the back of the old silage clamp. We still have lots of green stuff to eat in the garden, lamb’s lettuce, spinach, pak choi and excellent mustard flavoured Chinese greens that have gone on growing all winter. Even the purple sprouting that the alpacas ate has come back and there is probably enough for a couple of meals for the humans.
