The sick cria, astonishingly, is still alive. Its breathing is not as noisy but it is still very weak. Chas tubed it twice this morning with rehydration fluid and at lunch time it got out of its straw bale enclosure where there is a hot water bottle underneath and a heat lamp on top. The cria then tried hard to suckle in a very slow sort of way. The mother kept walking away but did stand for her eventually and we gave her a bit more rehydration fluid in a bottle. It has to be little and often as otherwise she just regurgitates the lot. But still we are pleased with her progress.

The girl who was gored by the goat is fully recovered. The vet was very pleased when he had a look at where the hole was yesterday. And the cria with the bad ear has started putting on weight and is a lot more cheerful in herself. The new suri cria who was born at the end of December is a handsome little chap, very lively and curious. He was chasing the hens this morning.
