That was a turn up for the books – a blindingly hot Devon County Show. Gave us all the chance to find last year’s sun cream (unused) and moan about being too hot whilst watching paint dry in the show ring. Chas looks as if he has come back from two weeks in Benidorm. The good old traction engines were in residence as well and there was plenty of black smoke floating our way. Some of the alpacas went grey and our hands were black after a few hours in the show ring. God knows what our lungs are like. A jolly Health and Safety lady tipped up on Saturday morning and got the traction engines moved back so the smoke wasn’t quite so dreadul. Apparently they can use smokeless fuel but the Show organisers provide the coal and the guys who own the engines said it was crap coal and therefore the smoke and fumes were particularly noxious. Meanwhile back at the farm we have been delivering alpacas as we have had a sudden flurry of sales, that’s good, not too many bacon bits for our supper for a while.
Alex A –
That’s great news!
