I have been nursing a very sore arm since Friday when I had my swine flu jab. Every time someone touched my arm there was much screaming and it hurt like hell in the night. Disappointingly there was nothing to see – no red bits or anything. But I can now boldly go to swine flu land. I get the jabs because I am one of the half dead as a type 1 diabetic they don’t want me cluttering up their hospital corridors, very wise, I might be tempted to shout at a few more consultants.
Meanwhile we heard from the German Show that my lovely little Lysander was Champion Fawn Male for Leo and Marieke. He’s a Jaquinto son and a Jaquinto daughter was first in the white class – a good result.
Joshua and I went to Charmouth yesterday and found some ammonites. It was the most beautiful afternoon, the sea flat calm and so blue. When we were walking back however, at about four oclock, a very cold mist descended, the temperature must have dropped ten degrees. It was the first time Alice (the dog) had been to the beach and she was very over excited insisting on saying hello to everybody on the beach and then tearing around like a mad thing. She slept well last night.
Leo –
He was first of all the fawn animals in the German West Show. Biggest class with 45 animals in total. From the 6 classes (all colours including 1 suri class), he was selected with to other older animals from these 6 alpacas for supreme champion. But unfortunatly he didn’t won that one… But he belonged to the three best animals in show (absolutly high quality alpacas) – 160 alpacas in total. He left other winners of former shows in the Netherlands and Germany behind… Only 2 import (Australian) alpacas were his components this day. Yes, I am very proud of him. He’s becoming better in fleece every day. Everybody knows Jaquinto but nobody has any ofspring of him in Germany or Benulux.
You (Rachel and Chas) can be very proud to breed such a beautiful, extra-ordinary animal. Buying is easy when you have the money, but it will be difficult for us (Marieke and Leo) to breed such an alpaca on our own. We still need your help of selecting the good mare with the perfect stud…!
Thank you for trusting Lysander to our hands. Many greetings,
Leo (and of course Marieke)
