Our last cria of the season was born yesterday, it is a girl, an uneventful birth on a sunny day. We have also had five chicks hatch, two out of two of ours and three of the araucanas. Disappointingly none of the six Ancona eggs or six Legbars have hatched so my Ebay purchases were a total failure. The hen in the barn is sitting on an enormous clutch of eggs, we shall see whether she will be more successful! If we are right on dates they should hatch on Wednesday. Our other hens are mostly laying in unknown places. I found a load of eggs in a bale bag of brown fibre which were ok and went into the Spanish omelette.

I had a glorious bonfire last night of hedge trimmings which should keep the neighbours happy. I love a bonfire and take after my mother and grandmother – we are all secret arsonists. Thank you Debbie for your nice comment about Alpaca World magazine – the editor needs a pat on the back now and then.
