It was my nephew James’s wedding on Saturday at Brympton House in Somerset. It is a very beautiful statelty home and the weather was fantastic. When we were about to leave for the wedding it dawned on me that we had no buttonholes for Joshua, Tom, Matt, Alex and Joshua. A rapid trip to Morrisons was required and we found dome acceptable pink carnations. Luckily Matt is very handy at this sort of thing andI had put florist’s wire and the secateurs in the car so after we had picked them up from the pub at Odcombe he set to work. I was wearung a pink and cream dress and had carnations in my hat and they all had pink buttonholes, marvellous, a matching set.

The wedding was very touching, plenty of love and affection flying around and after the service it was champagne and canapes on a splendid terrace, followed by dinner upstairs and then a trek across the lawns to the Orangery for dancing. We all had a splendid time.

Bit of a slow start the next day but the alpacas had to be fed and the boys wanted to shoot pheasants which they did – one each.
