Our field of female alpacas for sale, 23 of them, moved into Tucker’s Field yesterday. We took the tractor out and dragged the hay mangers through. They have a bright blue temporary fence preventing them taking a tour of the house being built. I expect they will spend many happy hours gazing at the builders and possibly vice versa. I remember when the hunt came through they were all stood along the hedge watching – very funny. Alice, small fluff ball, and I travelled nicely cushioned in hay in the link box as sitting on the edge of the tractor is not comfortable.

The fieldfares have arrived and the only spindle tree on the farm is covered in pink berries. When we were children, finding one was considered a great thrill. I looked it up on the internet and was gratified to learn that it really was used for making spindles, knitting needles and skewers.

We have had an old car sitting around on the farm for years that I bought from my brother in law. It has a racing carburettor and lowered suspension. We stuck the tractor battery in it and it roared into life as we had to get it to another farm where it will be taken away for scrap today. It did take a while to get the wheels to go round and a flat tyre had to be pumped up but we waved goodbye to it in the end.
