Such crazy weather here that even we have brought our weanlings into the barn at night and the adults with cria at foot. They are pretty dry now and we are pretty exhausted from mucking out every day. Happily the elephant grass we use is very good and means that the poo doesn’t stick to the floor. I am hoping they can stay out all night soon…which is probably foolish as it never seems to end. Another tree came down yesterday – on to a fence of course. Andrew had to walk down with the chain saw to cut it off the fence as we can’t get any vehicles into the bottom fields without making one helluva mess.

The family farm, where my brother lives, is just above the Somerset levels so I keep seeing familiar people pop up on the news to bemoan their plight. Sounds absolutely ghastly and a tragedy for everyone who lives there. I remember going to look at the floods when we were children but it never lasted long. Once at sunset the flooded fields were full of swans, all pink in the light.
