There were two cock pheasants fighting, one pheasant wandering about, two rabbits rooted to the spot and five magpies in the field this morning. And it was sunny, briefly, before the rain and mist came in AGAIN. I wonder if there is any point in getting up until the spring. It is dark all day. It is a good thing I don’t live in Scandinavia or I would be permanently depressed. However we had quite a fun weekend, mostly a muddy one as we were heaving hay mangers and troughs about, cleaning out the hens – such a lovely job – and generally getting things tidy. Chas is putting two new brake discs on the little car, he is so handy. It has still got to go to the garage on Thursday as the engine is sounding odd, a bearing noise according to Chas car mechanic extraordinaire, probably a very expensive one too. We have come to rue the day we bought a Ford Focus.
