Our first time at Wonderwool was fun with lots of sales. The new yarns on cone, hot off the spinning frames, were much admired and the ecru particularly quickly sold. All in all we will have over two tons of yarn spun by the end of this week – amazing – amazing bills too but at least we will have loads of stock including machine knitting yarns.

There was a good trade in alpaca socks with the other stand holders at Wonderwool as it was absolutely freezing. I had so many layers on, my feet were OK with the alpaca socks and my neck was pretty good too with Linda’s handspun alpaca shawl she gave me as a wedding present. All the bits in between were cold. It didn’t rain on the Saturday but there was serious rain on the Sunday which made it seem even colder. There was a food stand there called No Bones Jones, what a fantastic name, that did vegetarian and vegan food. The cakes were scrumptious and they actually made a pasta salad delicious and I consider that a triumph. Alice, the cavapoo, came too and was a hit. Everyone had to give her a cuddle. She had her bed in a puppy cage under one of the tables and snoozed away for large parts of the day.

Our hotel was VERY grim and the heater didn’t work in the room. The whole place had a horrid musty smell and needed a major refurbishment. Surprisingly the food was pretty good and the salads properly dressed so the chef was OK, in fact all the staff were charming and the lady on reception had got a working fire into our room for the second night AND there was loads of hot water.

We had a lightning load out too managing to be packed up and ready to go in an hour and a half, must be a record for us.
